GOOD WORK BY TROOPS IN INDIA. CANADIAN OFFER ACCEPTED. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, November 7. A thousand troops, including motorised medical units, are helping to fight the famine in Bengal by the distribution of food, stated General Auchinleck (Commander-in-Chief in India), interviewed in New Delhi. The troops are sending un country 900 tons of food daily from Calcutta to about 20 distributing centres. They are using their own vehicles to transport the food. An Ottawa message says the Prime Minister (Mr Mackenzie King) announced that India had accepted the Canadian offer of 100,000 tons of wheat to alleviate the famine in Bengal. Mr King added that the question of shipping presents considerable difficulties, which are being examined.
