IN STATE OF CHAOS

COMMUNICATION RAILWAYS BEHIND GERMAN FRONT IN RUSSIA. TRAFFIC JAMS AT JUNCTIONS. (BY*Telegraph— Press-Association —Copyright) LONDON. November 8. According to reports from Switzerland the railway system behind the German lines in Russia has fallen into complete chaos, says Reuter’s correspondent in Stockholm. Great accumulations of traffic are jammed at the junctions, and the whole supply organisation is reported to have broken down. Russian bombers are constantly attacking this confused mass, while the guerillas behind the German lines are blowing up bridges and supplies, adding to the confusion. The Stockholm “Svenska Dagblad” says the Germans are evacuating civilians from many towns on the borders

of Estonia and Latvia, which are no longer considered safe as a result of tne Russian advance from Velikiye Luki. In the north of the White Russia front the local offensive continued yesterday, and a number of towns and villages were captured south-west of Nevel.
