4 METROPOLITAN MEETING CUP WON BY HAUGHTY (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, November 7. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s Cup meeting opened yesterday in fine weather. There was a record attendance. The track was fast after overnight showers. The totalisator investments were £141,211 10s, against £99,410 10s last year. The investments on the Cup were £30,836. Haughty won her second New Zealand Cup brilliantly. Gold Bar, the pacemaker, ran the half-mile in 61 2-ssec., the mile in 2.3 3-5, 11 miles in 3.9, and then tired. Haughty won in 4.13 3-5, a world’s winning record in a handicap. Due to Bronze Eagle breaking, Countless, Pacing Power and Shadow Maid met with slight interference in the running.
