FOUND EFFECTIVE IN SICILY. NAZI BLACKMAIL IN SOUTH AMERICA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, November 4. ’ More than 80 per cent, of Italian and German prisoners captured in Sicily admitted that the Office of War Information leaflets and broadcasts influenced their surrender, according to military evidence tendered to the Appropriation Committee of the House of Representatives, which approved an additional grant of 5,000,000 dollars to the 0.W.1. The committee was told that the Nazis were engaged in a blackmail racket in South America, extorting money from residents in exchange ,for the release of relatives from Germany.
