AUTUMN SHOW
PROPOSAL BY CARTERTON SOCIETY
MASTERTON OFFER OF ASSISTANCE.
TALK OF PAROCHIALISM DEPRECATED,
The unanimous decision to assist the Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society in the holding of an autumn show at Carterton was made at last night’s meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association. The assistance given will include the loan of cups and trophies and assistance by the committee if required. The president, Mr T. A. Brown, reported that he, with Mr P. F. Fagan (vice-president), and Mr J. M. James, had discussed the holding of an autumn show with Car ter ton officials at the recent spring show. It was made clear that Carterton was not encroaching on Masterton's show dates but was endeavouring to keep faith with breeders. Mr R. E. Gordon Lee (past-president) said that parochial jealousy had never entered into discussions of the Masterton Association, and he was sorry if any members of the Carterton committee could remember so far back to those days. Mr Brown said that members of the Carterton society had taken umbrage at the Press report of the last meeting of the association and had read into the report parochialism which never existed.
Messrs Brown, Fagan, C. C. Ruby, J. M James, Laird Meredith and N. Blatchford were appointed a committee to meet representatives of the Carterton society in regard to show matters.
