LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST RATHER CHANGEABLE. WITH STRONG WESTERLY WINDS. The following * official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Fresh to strong westerly to north-westerly winds. Weather fair apart from a few isolated showers in the high country. Temperatures moderate. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Rather changeable with showers in the ranges. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 15 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. The Waingawa Sub-station, P.W.D., reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday: —Shade temperature, maximum, 71; minimum, 57; terrestrial, 52; sunshine, 7 hours 30 minutes; rain, 14 points.
