YOUTH WEEK
FULL PROGRAMME ARRANGED DEMONSTRATIONS & DISPLAYS. LOCAL ORGANISATIONS CO-OPERATING. Youth Week will be observed in Masterton next week. A full week’s activities have been arranged to demonstrate the work of local youth associations, so as to give the people of Masterton an opportunity of seeing what is being done and of interesting the young people who have not yet linked up with the movement. The following organisations are cooperating in the week: Air Training Corps, Bible Class, Boys’ Brigade, Boy Scouts and Cubs, Churches, Girl Guides and Brownies, Girls’ Life Brigade, Salvation Army Band, St. John Ambulance ‘(Junior), Y.M.C.A. and Y.W.C.A. Division. The week’s activities are as follow: Monday evening, opening gathering; Tuesday, Bible Class rally, address by Captain Troughton, missionary in Japan and China; Wednesday, Shop Day; evening, modern and old time dance; Thursday, Father and Daughter Tea, concert in evening (open to public); Friday, Mother and Son Tea, movie programme in evening; Saturday, combined youth rally and sports meeting in Park, including demonstrations by St. John Ambulance, Scouts, Guides, etc., attractions for the children; 'evening, Y.M.C.A. gymnastic display and presentation of awards; Sunday, November 14, afternoon parade of youth organisations and service in park. The Salvation Army Band will take part at the gatherings in the Park on Saturday and Sunday. All other functions will be held in the Masterton Y.M.C.A.
