MASQUERADE DANCE
WOMEN’S WAR SERVICE AUXILIARY. LAST NIGHT'S SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The plain and fancy masquerade dance held last night in the Masonic Hall, Masterton, under the auspices, of the local Women’s War Service Auxiliary was most succesful. Gaiety was the keynote which was sustained to the last dance. The judges of the costumes were Mrs J. Robertson and Miss K. Cruickshank, and the winners were as follow: —Best couple, “Dave and Mabel;” best lady. “Cowgirl;” best gentleman, “Royal Marine;” most original lady, “Rationing;” most original gentleman, “The Music Goes Round.” t The doorkeepers were Sgt. Hintz,. Cpl. Wrigley and Pte. Yoxley, and the supper arrangements were in charge of Sgt. McCord. The winners of the paper hat dance were Miss M, Free and Mr I. Rutherford, and of the Monte Carlo Miss M. Paaske and J. Griffiths, Mrs A. Whittaker and Mrs O. McMinn were joint M’s.C., and the music was supplied by Jack Barnes’s Rhythm Boys.
