SUFFERED BY THE GERMANS
In Region of Lower Dnieper RAPID SOVIET ADVANCE NORTH OF BLACK SEA BEATEN ENEMY HARRIED BY MOBILE FORCES , > LONDON, November 3. Tonight’s Moscow communique states that the Russians are as near as 20 miles to Kherson, at the mouth of the Dnieper. More than 80 places have been captured between the Dnieper and the Black Sea. Several more places have been taken south- * west of Dnepropetrovsk. Earlier reports on the battle of the Lower Dnieper stated that considerable Russian pressure was being exerted on the ' retreating Germans and that enormous casualties have been inflicted on enemy troops trying to get away. Further south, a German, force is hemmed in by the Russians. Russian tanks, mobile infantry and Cossack cavalry are giving the Germans no rest. The Russians state that isolated German groups between the Perekop Isthmus and the Sea of Azov have been wiped out. Berlin says some of these groups have managed to fight their way through the Russian lines and rejoin the main German forces. ' .
