Anti-aircraft batteries in London last night destroyed their first Messerschmitt 410. It was flying at 21,000 feet in midair when hit. NjirJfling wreckage crashed in a Surrey wood. The Messerschmitt 410 is Germany’s answer to the Mosquito. It is her latest and fastest twin-engined fighter-bomber and night-fighter. It is believed to have a stop speed of about 400 miles an hour. About a dozen enemy planes took part in raids on Britain last night. Heavy gunfire was heard in the London area. . ■ FEW REPORTED OVER ENGLAND. ONE RAIDER DESTROYED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) RUGBY, November 1. Last night a few enemy aircraft, one of which was destroyed, crossed the south and south-east coasts of England. They operated over widely-separated areas, and bombs were ' dropped at scattered points, including Greater London.
