No cases of bankruptcy were recorded in Masterton last month. Not a single bankruptcy has been filed this year. Vital Statistics. The following are the vital statistics recorded in Masterton last month, the figures for October, 1942, being given in parentheses:—Births, 35 (34); deaths, 11 (14); marriages, 1 (12). Building Permits. No building permits were issued by the Masterton Borough Council last month. Several applications sent to the Building Controller during the month have not yet been approved. In October, 1942, 7 permits for £llO3 were issued. The Masterton County Council issued one permit for £290. Women’s Division. The last meeting of the year of the Masterton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union will be held in the Rest Room on Wednesday, when members and their friends will be entertained at a social afternoon. There will be no shop day in the morning, but a bring and buy stall will be held in the afternoon. Masquerade Dance. A plain and fancy dress masquerade dance is to be held by the W.W.S.A. in the Masterton Masonic Hall on Thursday. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes and masks will be obtainable at the hall. Everyone is asked to wear a mask. A new feature will be a hat novelty danc<*. Jack Barnes’s four-piece orchestra will play the music for the dancing. Everything points to the occasion being a most enjoyable one.
