The Canadian Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. J. G. Gardiner, has announced that Canada is about to negotiate a new bacon and ham agreement with Britain. The agreement will provide for the delivery of not less than 900 million pounds over a two-year period starting on Jan. 1. The price will be 75 cents cwt. over the existing figure. The current agreement, expiring in December, calls for the delivery of 675,000,000 pounds in one year. The lower deliveries are necessitated by feed shortages in Canada, with an expected lower production of hogs in 1944.
