AIR ATTACKS ON TARGETS IN BURMA DAMAGE TO RAILWAY ROLLING STOCK. AND TO RIVER STEAMERS. (British OlTlclal Wireless.) (Received This Day. 10.10 a.m.) RUGBY, October 29. An Indian communique slates: “In offensive sweeps alon;', lhe railways east and west of Mandalay, R.A.I'. Beaulighters yesterday and on Wednesday damaged live locomotives and over 80 wagons. Others, patrolling the Irrawaddy River, damaged a large paddle steamer and other river craft. Hurricanes shot up an enemy-occupied village near Kalemyo and Vengeances mid Mohawks attacked positions on lhe Chin Hills and the Mayu Peninsula, with good results. Last night Wellingtons renewed their attacks on railway installations. The target was the station at Monywa. None of our aircraft are missing.
Yesterday morning there was enemy activity over our positions in Arakan, and a few bombs were dropped. The damage done was negligible, but there were a few civilian casualties.”
