(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. “I believe it will be some time after Germany collapses before we can look forward to defeating the main forces of Japan,” said Lieutenant-General J. H. Vanoyen, Commander-in-Chief of the Netherlands East Indies 'forces in the South-West Pacific. He added that the Netherlands Indies forces, both air and ground, were being specially trained in Australia to carry out important duties as the spearhead of the forces that would one day recapture the Netherlands East Indies for the Allies.
TOJO’S CLAIM INVINCIBLE FORTIFICATIONS BUILT, (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, October 29. According to the Tokio official radio, General Tojo ’(Prime Minister), in a speech closing the session of the Diet, said Japan was completely united in her war effort and had built invincible fortifications against invasion. The Diet adopted a resolution pledging the establishment of a new world order and an acceleration of efforts for the destruction of Japan’s long-stand-ing enemies, Britain and America.
