ROTARY CLUB

WEEKLY LUNCHEON MEETING ADDRESS BY WING COMMANDER G. A. NICHOLLS The weekly luncheon meeting of the Masterton Rotary Club was held at the Y.M.C.A. today, the president. Mr E. G. Coddington, presiding over a good attendance of members. Flight-Lieut. R. A. Stedman, Pilot Officer Trevor Graham and Messrs S. V. Playsted, A. O. Jones, J. A. Russell and T. S. Doherty (Wellington) were guests of the club. The speaker for the day was Wing Commander G. A. Nicholls, commandant of the Air Training Corps, who surveyed the various stages of Air Force training in each of the three main groups—flying, radio and technical. The speaker stressed the importance of the Air Training Corps as being the main recruiting ground for the R.N.Z.A.F. and also the value of the training not only for purposes of the war effort but as a youth movement. A wider appreciation of the extent of Air Force training would enable Rotarians to understand the necessity for training to commence early and this was the greatest advantage that young men could obtain by joining the A.T.C. On the motion of Mi’ Norman Lee the speaker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his interesting and instructive address.
