BIG INCREASE

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.35 a.m.) RUGBY, October 27 In the three years ending July 1 last, the United States Navy completed 15,576 new ships of all types, representing 2,200,000 displacement tons, according to a statement by Admiral Randal Jacobs, Chief of'Naval Personnel. The size of the United States Navy, he said, was dwarfed only by the size of the task confronting it. New construction in three years comprised 23,000 ships, consisting of 333 combatant vessels, 1274 mine craft and patrol craft, 151 auxiliary vessels, 654 yard and district craft and 12,964 landing craft.
