VIOLENT FIGHTING

REPORTED IN PARTS OF YUGOSLAVIA OPERATIONS ALONG FRONTIER OF HUNGARY. ATTACKS IN GERMAN REAR. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) RUGBY, October 27. In Yugoslavia violent fighting is in progress near the town of Ycka, on the right bank of the River Sava, where the Germans have brought up reinforcements, according to a communique from the headquarters of the Yugoslav People’s Liberation Army. In Dalmatia all further German attacks have been repulsed in the neighbourhood of Vrgovac. One tank was captured.

In the Croat province of Slavonia, succesful operations are in progress along the Hungarian frontier. Two. railway bridges at Cacini, on the ZagrebOsijek line, and two bridges near the station of Zdence, have been blown up. ,In Montenegro, Yugoslav Partisan troops, after stubborn fighting, abandoned the town of Andrijevica when the Germans were reinforced by Albanian Quislings. In Slovenia heavy fighting is taking place with German troops who have started a new offensive in the liberated zone. In the rear of the German troops, Yugoslav partisans arc destroying all German fortified positions.
