GENERAL BERGERET
FORMER HIGH COMMISSIONER OF NORTH AFRICA. NOW CHARGED WITH TREASON. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, October 20. General Bergeret, who has been arrested on a charge of treason, was commander of the French Air Forces in West Africa until July 7. He became Admiral Darlan’s assistant, and later was appointed High Commissioner of North Africa. With Bergeret’s arrest all members of the old North Africa War Committee, except General Giraud, have vanished from the political scene.
