FEATHERSTON

SOLDIERS’ DANCE COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was an excellent attendance at the soldiers’ dance organised by the Junior Patriotic Committee on Saturday night. The music was supplied by Mrs Ashton’s Orchestra and extras were played by Misses N. and M. Tocker and G. Fraser. The M.C. was Mr Ashton. The Lucky Spot valeta was won by Sergeant Black and Miss A. Johnson, the Lucky Spot one step by Private Jones and Miss Betty Elliot, and the Monte Carlo dance by Mr D. Holland and Miss Belle Currie. A mystery envelope was won by Mr R. Higgison and Mr D. Holland. The supper tables were artistically decorated by Miss G. Jensen. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs Lewis, Mrs Norman, Mr Young (Wellington), and Mrs and the Misses Stanland, Petone, are the guests of Mrs L. McKenna, Pahautea, Miss Joan McKenzie, Wellington, was a visitor to Featherston for the weekend. Mr and Mrs T.C. Lomas returned to Wellington after a weekend visit to relatives in Featherston. Mr J. R. Kirby and Mr M. Newton, Wellington, were the guests of Mr J. W. Card for the weekend. COSY THEATRE TWO BIG FEATURES. Two big features will be shown tomorrow night. “Dark Journey” is an exciting romantic spy story, featuring Vivien Leigh and Conrad Veidt. “The Amateur Gentleman” is an excellent drama in which the chief roles are taken by Douglas Fairbanks Junr. and Margaret Lockwood.
