FATAL COLLISIONS
TWO PEOPLE KILLED. HOLIDAY TRAGEDY AT KAIAPOI. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 25. A collision occurred early this afternoon between a motor car ana a Christchurch-bound train at the level crossing at Kaiapoi, and two people lost their lives. The victims were. KILLED. Mr George Benny, aged 84, 14 Rotherham Street, Christchurch. Mrs Jane Winchester, aged 42, 144 Riccarton Road, Christchurch. INJURED. Mr Henry Winchester, badly lacerat- r ed scalp, facial abrasions and severer shock. Mrs Winchester and her husband, who was the driver of the car, were admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, where the woman died at 2.45 p.m. Mr Winchester's condition is serious. YOUTH LOSES LIFE. MOTOR CYCLE COLLIDES WITH TRAIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, October 25. A fatal accident occurred at the Frederick Street railway crossing. Hastings, this morning. Wilbert James Thompson Dillon, 17, suffered h fractured skull when the motor-cycle he was riding collided with the Napier-Welling-ton relief express. He was carried along-the track for about 25 yards and died" within a few minutes. The train was delayed for about 15 minutes.
