In winning the first division of the Caulfield Cup at Flemington today, the rank outsider, St. Warden, caused the greatest surprise in the long history of the race. St. Warden, who only won one other race in two years, was a long way back in the early stages, but gradually made up ground and hit the front a furlong from the post. St. Warden was bred in New Zealand. Results: — Caulfield Cup, one mile and a half — First Division: St. Warden, by Lord Warden—Halo, 7.3 (H.
