ATTACK ON SHIPS

$ OFF NORTH AFRICAN COAST. RADIO-CONTROLLED BOMBS USED BY GERMANS. CBy Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright! LONDON, October 22. Dorniers equipped with new radiocontrolled glider bombs participated in a formidable attack on an Allied convoy off the North African coast. Tor-pedo-carrying Heinkels made up the rest of the 25 attacking bombers. French pilots of the coastal air force completely broke up the attack, shooting down at least three of the German machines and severely damaging four. The Germans claimed that they seriously damaged eight large ships, but R.A.F. headquarters stated that nothing like that number was damaged.
