Barton gave a very interesting talk on a visit to Morocco (she having been one of the few New Zealanders to have visited that country). Mrs Barton was fortunate in the time she chose for her visit, as she was able to witness a procession which is only performed once a year. The robes worn she described as being a most magnificent colour spectacle, particularly those of the Sultan, who rode at the head of the procession on a beautifully groomed white horse. Mrs Barton was also in Morocco when the wild flowers were in bloom, every colour imaginable growing along the roadsides, making a vivid carpet’ of colour. These are in flower only for three weeks during the year. After that everything dries up with the intense heat. A visit to a Moorish home and the making of.a cup of tea by their host was also described. The tea was put in the pot along with a very large amount of sugar and a handful of mint and then the water, the result being very disappointing to the New Zealand guests, who had been eagerly looking forward to a good cup of tea. The hostesses were Mesdames Luke Smith, Chivers and Miss Pollick Smith. Personal Items Mr and Mrs Mclntyre and Mr and Mrs Levy, Wellington, are the weekend guests of Mrs C. Corlet, Pahautea. Miss F. and A. Jones, Wellington, are the guests of Mrs A. P. Clapshaw for the weekend. Miss Ngaire Reed, Mrs D. Simon and Miss Olive Nix, of Palmerston North, are visiting Featherston for the HawkeReed wedding.
