ANNUAL ATHLETIC SPORTS SOME EXCELLENT PERFORMANCES RECORDED. CHAMPIONSHIP AND OTHER CONTESTS. The Hadlow School’s annual athletic sports meeting was held at South Park, Masterton, yesterday. The weather was brilliantly fine, and there was a large attendance of parents and friends. Several excellent performances were put up, and through the various events competition was close. The arrangements for the snorts were excellent. The judges were Messrs A. G. Hargreaves, E. L. Nitz, E. Walcott and P. q Holmes. M.r W. L. Dickson was starter and Mr E. R. Maunsell was timekeeper. The result of the senior championship is still in doubt, as one more event has to be decided The leaders are: Mclsaac ma., 13 points; Cowper, 11 points; McMaster, 8 points; Effingham, 5 points Detailed results are:—
Senior Championships.—22o yards: Mclsaac ma. 1, McMaster 2, Cowper 3; time. 28 2-ssec. Long jump: Cowper 1, Effingham 2, Mclsaac ma. 3; distance, 14ft. 2in. 100 yards hurdles: Cowper 1, Mclsaac ma. 2, McMaster 3. High jump: Mclsaac ma. 1, Cowper and 'Effingham (equal) 2; height, 3ft. Bin. 100 yards: McMaster 1, Cowper 2, Mclsaac ma. 3; time, 13 4-ssec. 440 yards: Mclsaac ma, 1, McMaster 2, Effingham 3; time, 70 sec.
Junior Championship.—P. L. Jenkins, 12 points, 1; P. Lawson, 10 points, 2; S. Cundy, 8 points, 3. 220 yards: Jenkins 1, Lawson 2, Cundy 3. Long jump: Cundy 1, Jenkins 2, Lawson 3; 12ft. sin. 100 yards hurdles: Jenkins 1. Lawson 2, Cundy 3. High jump: Jenkins 1, Lawson 2, Cundy 3; 3ft. 7in.
