TORPEDO-BOMBERS
UNITS TO BE FORMED IN NEW ZEALAND AMERICAN AIRCRAFT OBTAINED TRAINING TO BEGIN SHORTLY (By Tclcaraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Another important development in the expansion of the R.N.Z.A.F. was announced today by the Defence Minister (Mr Jones). "New Zealand's fastgrowing air strength in the Pacific area," he said, “will shortly receive an important addition in the form of tor-pedo-bomber units. These aircraft are now in the Dominion and training operations are to commence in the near future. Torpedo-bombers have been employed with great success in sea warfare and a New Zealand torpedobomber squadron operating in Britain has established a brilliant: record. The aircraft we shall employ in the Pacific are American manufactured Grumman Avengers. Our American allies have used them will) groat effect against the Japanese. Wo look forward to the day, in the. not so distant future, when we can join them in this type of attack.”
