MUST UNITE
BRITAIN AND THE UNITED STATES IF CHRISTIAN CIVILISATION IS TO ENDURE. DECLARATION BY COLONEL KNOX. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, October 22. The Secretary of the United States Navy, Colonel Knox, in a broadcast in America admonished those who were engendering hard feeling between Britain and America, and asserted that the Americans must stand together with the. British, otherwise the fabric of Christian civilisation would be torn to tatters. “We have practically won the war, and the only way to kick victory away is to promote disunity,” he said. “The Britishers, from his Majesty to the man in the street, realise that British-Am-erican collaboration is of most urgent concern, and it is imperative and vital that we do likewise.” ■ Colonel Knox said he had found everywhere British and American service men working, playing, fighting and dying together —"fighting as equals side by side to keep what we have fought for—individual liberty and the free democratic institutions.”
