ATTACKED BY R.A.F. PLANES TRAWLER SUNK OFF CRETE. HITS ON LOADED LANDING CRAFT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) RUGBY, October 20. A R.A.F. Middle East communique states: “R.A.F. bombers on Monday night attacked the airfield at Antimachia, in Kos. Bursts were seen on a landing strip and aircraft dispersal area, followed by two explosions and a fire. "Other bombers attacked the airfield at Heraklion, in Crete, starting three fires. “Bombers, escorted by fighters, yesterday attacked an enemy convoy off the north coast of Crete. An armed trawler was destroyed and landing craft filled with personnel were hit. One landing craft was set on fire. Fighters destroyed two enemy seaplanes escorting the convoy. “In daylight yesterday, light bombers attacked and hit two small vessels in Syros Hrbour. One of our aircraft is missing, but the pilot is safe.”
