DAYLIGHT ATTACK

ON TARGETS IN WESTERN GERMANY MADE BY AMERICAN HEAVY BOMBERS. TWELVE NAZI PLANES SHOT DOWN OVER FRANCE. LONDON, October 20. Americaii heavy bombers, escorted by Thunderbolts and Spitfires, raided targets in Western Germany today. There are no details yet of what the bombers did.

Three enemy fighters were shot down over Northern France, bringing the day’s total to 12. Earlier, two squadrons of Spitfires, although heavily outnumbered, bagged nine German fighters over Northern France, without loss to themselves.

Fighter Command aircraft attacked two enemy airfields in Holland and France. Two aircraft are missing.
