VICTIMS OF GESTAPO

ITALIAN PRIESTS & PRELATES. CHARGES OF ANTI-GERMAN PROPAGANDA. NEW YORK, October 20. In spite of energetic protests by the Vatican, the Gestapo has started a mass clean up of Catholic priests and prelates throughout northern Italy, says the Berne correspondent of the “New York Times.” The priests are charged with preaching anti-German propaganda. " Neutral informants report that priests throughout Italy have flayed the racial violence, sacking and plundering which followed in the wake of Nazi troops. Arrested priests will be court-martialled and may be sentenced to deportation or worse.
