AIR TRAINING CORPS

MOBILE INSTRUCTIONAL UNIT VISITING MASTERTON. INTERESTING DISPLAY PROMISED. Almost entirely manufactured and assembled in the workshops of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, the Air Training Corps Mobile Instructional Unit, travels as a road unit and will visit Masterton on Monday next and will be on view at the parking area of the W.F.C.A. Ltd. from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. iand again all day and evening on Tuesday. The unit consists of three modern transport vehicles and comprises a compact exhibition of the different branches of training in the R.N.Z.A.F. The Mobile Unit will be of great interest to parents and members of the public in addition to the cadets themselves and will give an inside view into the training received in the R.N.Z.A.F. and the A.T.C. A highlight of the exhibition is the Harvard modern fighter training aircraft which will demonstrate the action of all controls. This aircraft is mounted on the first vehicle in such a manner that all parts of it may be inspected with the greatest of ease. It is anticipated that there will be a big response to the recruiting drive to be held during the visit of the Mobile Unit and that every available youth between the ages of 16 and will enrol with the Air Training Corps. I! is the aim to enrol 100 recruits from the Wairarapa. Those who enlist and are accepted will be given a free flight next week. ESSAY COMPETITION. The publicity committee, at a meeting held this morning, decided to offer first prize of £2 2s, a second prize of £1 Is and a third of 10s 6d for die best essay dealing with the demonstiation and details of the equipment of the mobile unit. ’ The essay is open to competition from all young men. between 16 and 20 years of age. Further particulars will he announced later.
