ASSAULT AT SEA

SAILOR SERIOUSLY WOUNDED. CHARGE AGAINST CHINESE * COOKS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, This Day. This morning two Chinese, named Show Tsing and Chu Han Chan, first and second cooks respectively, appeared before Mr R. C. Abernethy, S.M., on a charge that, on the high seas, they did assault James Alcoorn, a sailor, so as to cause him actual bodily harm. After evidence had been given by the . master of the vessel, the accused men were remanded until November 3. The police indicated that a further remand would be sought, as Alcoorn, who was in hospital suffering from a knife wound in the side, was seriously ill and it would be some time before he was fit to give evidence.
