OF NEW ZEALAND TROOPS PRAISED BY AMERICAN - GENERAL. EXPERIENCE OF JUNGLE WARFARE. (Official War Correspondent, N.Z.E.F.) PACIFIC BASE, October 15. Stating that United States forces were proud to serve side by side with the New Zealanders in a northerly island of the Solomons, LieutenantGeneral Millard F. Harmon, commanding the ground forces in the South Pacific, praised the Dominion men for their outstanding fighting qualities and their ability in handling their first introduction to jungle warfere. “New Zealand soldiers are now taking an active part in operations against the Japanese in the Solomons,” said General Harmon. “They are courageous and well-trained soldiers and are rapidly acquiring experience in combat as jungle fighters. With them their American brothers in arms are proud to serve.” The New Zealand G.0.C., MajorGeneral Barrowclough, was described by General Harmon as “an experienced by his intelligent and aggressive ed b his intelligent and aggressive staff and combat unit commanders.’
