* Mrs Ransom Myers, Wellington, is a visitor to Masterton and is the guest of Mr and Mrs Goldsmith, College Street. The Mayor of Masterton, Mr T. Jordan, who is president of the Municipal Association of New Zealand was last night appointed the delegate from the Masterton Borough Council to attend the association’s conference to be held at Napier. Miss Edna Robb, who is at present spending a holiday with her parents, Mi and Mrs T. B. Robb, Macara Street, Masterton, has been appointed Tutor Sister at the Tokanui Mental Hospital, and will take up her new duties as from November 1. Mention of the illness of Councillor G. W. Morice was made by the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan at last night’s meeting of the Masterion Borough Council when the Town Clerk, Mr G. T. O’Hara Smith, was instructed to write to Mr Morice extending the council’s wishes for his speedy recovery. Reference to the illness of Mr H. H. Mawley, chairman of the Wairarapa Hospital Board was made at today’s meeting of the Hospital Board and it was decided to write to Mr Mawley wishing him a speedy recovery. Mr Norman Lee, Managing Secretary, said Mr Mawley was operated on in a private hospital at the weekend following on a serious illness. He was slowly improving. Mr Trevor Beetham was appointed acting-chairman for today s meeting.
