An unusual activity of the 8.8. C. is that of helping prisoners of war in the hands of the Japanese. The Japanese military authorities have refused to allow handwritten letters to the British prisoners in their hands. Consequently the British Red Cross appealed for help in the typewriting of letters from relatives. A very high percentage of the secretaries and typists of the 8.8. C. responded with alacrity, and now put in some part of their own time daily in typing these letters.
