HOME SERVICE MEN
FORMATION OF ASSOCIATION. MASTERTON BRANCH PROPOSED. A public meeting of all discharged home service forces men who have had at least six months’ continuous service in any branch of the forces and who have been discharged has been convened by Mr H. J. Brass, president of the Wairarapa Returned Services’ Association for Thursday night al 7.30 o’clock in the Soldiers’ Club, Masterton, for the purpose of forming a local branch of the New Zealand Home Service Association. An invitation is extended to all men concerned to attend the meetiiig»at which it is proposed to set up a provisional committee with power to act in choosing a delegate to attend a Dominion Conference to be held in Wellington on November 27 and if necessary to submit remits for consideration at the conference. Mr Brass stated today that it was desirable that all classes of service men and women should be organised in groups having mutual interests in order to assist with after-service problems. The eventual federation of all such groups could be looked forward to. The Dominion Executive of the N.Z.R.S.A. had given considerable thought and time to the formation of local Home Service Associations and whilst acting in this manner it was not desirous of controlling or influencing the new organisation in any way, its sole desire being to extend the hand of co-operation to the personnel of New Zealand Home Service Armed Forces in order to see such an association established under the most satisfactory circumstances and conditions.
