GERMAN PROTEST

AGAINST USE OF AZORES BY BRITAIN RIGHT TO TAKE MEASURES RESERVED JAPAN ALSO LODGES OBJECTION (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) LONDON, October 15. Germany, through her Minister in Portugal, has sharply protested in a formal Note to Portugal, against Portugal yielding military bases in the Azores, under British pressure, thus committing a serious breach of neutrality. The Berlin radio, in announcing this, added that the Reich reserves the right to take measures arising from the changed situation. The radio also stated that Japan, too, had protested to Portugal through her Minister at Lisbon.
