MEETING IN-MASTERTON. I ITEMS BY LEAGUE OF MOTHERS . - CHOIR. ’ The Masterton Townswomen's Guild [ held its monthly meeting in the Y.M.- ■ C.A., Mrs. Copp presiding. [ One minute’s silence was observed 1 out of respect to the memory of soldiers who had lost their lives in the . war. The president's motto for the month was: “The best substitute for wisdom silence.” ° Members were thanked for making the recent social gathering such a suecess. Members were asked to assist in the “Youth Movement” in the Y.M.C.A. in November. Mrs. Judd gave a report on the Townswomen’s Guild conference m Wellington. She stated that Miss Jerome Spencer had been again elected to the chair unopposed. One of the local guild remits had been adopted. It was stated that only two guilds were absent out of twenty. It was decided that the annual fete be held at Mrs. Gaskin’s residence, Colombo Road, in November. The roll call took the form of a humorous story. . The League of Mothers’ Choir, under i the leadership of Mrs Miller Hope, presented a programme of early English music. The programme was as follows: “O Peaceful England,” “Love is Meant to Make us Glad” (soloists, Mesdames Snowsill and Burke), “Nymphs and Shepherds,” “Early one Morning, “Come to the Fair” (soloists, Mesdames Baillie and Spicer), “My Love Dwelt in a Northern Town,” “Land of Hope and Glory.”
