Mrs Venables, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs B. Kingdon, Waingawa, has returned to Matamata. Mrs Studholme, Cole Street, Masterton, who has been visiting the South Island, has retrned to Masterton. The Rev. J. W. McKenzie, senior chaplain to the 2nd N.Z.E.F., is to be nominated by the Southland Presbytery as Moderator Designate of the General Assembly. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, is suffering from the aftereffects of influenza, and on medical advice is confined to his home at Northland for a fortnight. The death occurred at Wairoa yesterday of Mrs J. Hooper, a daughter of Mr E. T. Joyce, of 82 Perry Street. Masterton. The funeral took place in Masterton this afternoon. Mr D. K. Picken. master of Ormond College, Melbourne, and formerly professor of applied mathematics at Victoria University College, Wellington, has tendered his resignation on the ground of ill-health. The funeral of the late Mrs J. B. Keith took place in Masterton yesterday. The services at the chapel and at the graveside were conducted by the Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich. The pallbearers were Messrs J. L. Hughes, J. V. Gordon. P. R. Welch and J. Mulvaney. Among the many wreaths were those from the members of the Masterton Permanent’ Investment and Building Society, staff of Messrs Whitcombe and Tombs. Ltd.. Auckland, and the office staff of Messrs J. B. Keith and Co.
