ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. i (“Times-Age” Special.) P.G. Bro. J. H. McPherson presided over the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., held last evening. One member was declared off the sick funds and one declared on the funds of the Lodge. Sick pay totalling £l2 was passed. Two members residing in Wellington wrote notifying they were still incapacitated and unable to work. It was resolved to purchase Health Stamps for lodge use. Gaiety Dance. Tomorrow night, the Carterton Football Club will hold a complimentary wind-up dance in honour of the Club’s ladies’ committee. Mrs. Ashton’s Orchestra will play the music. A feature of the dance will be waltz, fox trot and statue competitions, for which liberal prizes will be given. Personal. Mrs. L. Jensen, of 30 Pembroke Street, Carterton, has received cabled advice that her husband, who was a prisoner of war in Italy, is safe and well in Switzerland. The death occurred at Parnell, Auckland, recently of Mr Sydney Dransfield. The late Mr. Dransfield was some years ago, a resident of Carterton, where he had a dental practice. PLUNKET SOCIETY MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Carterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday afternoon. There were present Mesdames Armstrong, Candy, Barrett, Dyer, Robinson and Trapp. Apologies were received from Mesdames Couling, Montgomery Steel. The nurse’s report for September stated inter alia: New cases, mothers 3, babies 3; visits to homes, new cases 11, old cases 69, pre-school children, 29; visits to rooms, adults 73, babies 69. pre-school children 38; telephone calls, 21. There were a few cases of chickenpox and many croup colds. A large sum had been raised by sending daffodils from Middle Run to the markets. The full amount would not be known until the end of the week. The generous action of Mr and Mrs W. H. Booth in making the blooms available is deeply appreciated. The Government subsidy on the nurse's salary for the half year ending September 31 had been received.
