SCOUTS AND CUBS

ACTIVITIES OF MO KATOA TROOP. - / There was a fair attendance of scouts at the weekly parade of the Mo Katoa Scout Troop on Friday evening. The meeting began with an inter-patioi handball tournament, the scores ol which were:—Kiwi Patrol beat Huia Patrol, 3/2; Huia Patrol beat Karoro, 2/r Karoro beat Kiwi, 3/2. Patrol instruction under the respective leaders was carried out. Scout Ronald Montgomery was invested into the crait, having passed the Tenderfoot test. During the week-end a successful field day was held for boys to pass outdoor scout tests. The boys who were successful were: Second IVI. Whittaker, First Class Test for cooking; Second T. Camden, Axemanship for second class; Scout Alf Levick, Axemanship for First Class; Scout Alec Levick, Cooking for Second Class; Scout D. Torr, Axemanship, Firelighting and Cooking for the Second Class badge: Scout P. Dalrymple, Axemanship and Firelighting for the Second Class badge. There was a good attendance at the Mo Katoa Cub parade. The pack proceeded to the Park, where various games were played and Cub work was carried out. Four boys under the supervision of Senior Sixer K. Camden laid a good trail while the Cubmaster, Miss O. Curry, instructed the pack about the district rally to be held soon. The Cubs followed the trail successfully.
