A Chinese Government spokesman announced in Chungking that arrangements had been completed with the United States Government for the release of £200,000,000 worth of gold. The spokesman said that presumably the gold was already on its way to China. Negotiations for a similar amount from Britain were not yet concluded. Such of the cable news on this page as is so headed has appeared in "The Times,” and Is cabled to Australia and New Zealand by special permission. It should be understood that the opinions are not those of “The Times” unless expressly stated to be so.
