Australian catering experts have been sent to New Guinea to advise army cooks. This has been done following war correspondents ’reports that soldiers fighting in New Guinea lived for months on unvaried bully beef and hard biscuits. Though an American field kitchen served hot meals to the soldiers soon after Roosevelt Ridge, near Salamaua, was taken, it was reported to be a rarity to see an Australian field kitchen in the New Guinea jungle.
