MAURICEVILLE

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE • COMPETITION WINNERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) There was a small attendance at the monthly meeting of the Mauriceville District Women’s Institute, held at the residence of Mrs Palmer on Tuesday. Several letters from soldiers overseas were read, thanking the Institute for parcels. It was reported that the monthly quota of ten parcels had been despatched overseas. Two dozen wool filled squares were received for quilt making. The competitions resulted as follow: —Best apron from old material, Mrs Baine 1; best bloom, Miss J. Larsen 1, Mrs Palmer and Mrs Broadbent, equal, 2.

Seed potatoes were distributed to members to be planted for the potato competition. The president thanked the hostesses and Mrs Palmer for the use of her home for the meeting
