MAGISTRATE’S COURT

♦ CIVIL BUSINESS. At a sitting of the Masterton Magistrate’s Court today, presided over by Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended civil claim:— Daniell, Hodder and Denton v. H. J. ( Salmon, claim £l9 Is 9d, costs £2 16s. In a defended civil action, A. B. Martin v. J. A .Russell, Mr Lawry found in favour of the plaintiff, awarding £l6 with £4 9s costs. The claim arose from a motor accident. Children’s Court. At a sitting of the Children’s Court today, before Mr Lawry, S.M., three youths appeared on charges relating to the unlawful conversion of motor cars and driving without motor drivers’ licences. The charges were brought as a result of motor patrolling by SeniorDetective W. Kane and Constable A. W. Nalder. Mr Lawry sentenced one youth to two years’ treatment at a Borstal institution, and in the other cases made adjournments.
