SALE AT ADDINGTON VALUES AGAIN HIGH. FAT CATTLE PRICES ADVANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 6. Values were again high at the Addington market today, the exception being fat sheep, another large entry of these showing a slight easing for best quality and a marked drop for light to medium ewes. Fat cattle met with a further advance. Ewe hoggets sold at the highest prices of the season. The store sheep prices were the highest of the season. One line of 220 Corriedales realised 39s and a second draft made 38s. There was an easing for better class fat sheep and a decided drop for light and unfinished ewes. There was a decline of up to 4s a head for old sheep on last week’s values. The highest price for wethers was 64s Id. The cattle market opened at about last week’s level, but speedily firmed and till well on in the sale there was an average improvement of about 15s a head. In the later stages, however, there was a steadying and, taken over the whole market, values were about Is 6d per 1001 b, dearer than a week ago. This made the sale the highest for many years.
The porker values were easier by is to 2s a head. Baconers met with a dragging sale and values for lightweights were easier by from 4s to 5s a head and for heavyweights up to 15s a head. The average price per lb. was 8d to 9d.
