GREYTOWN

CROQUET CLUB SEASON TO OPEN THIS MONTH. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytc.wn Ladies’ Croquet Club was held in the Park pavilion yesterday afternoon, when Mrs. H. G. Carter presided over a good attendance of members. Two members, Mesdames F. Brooks and E. Richards, have recently suffered bereavements, and members stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of sympathy. Mrs. A. Haigh offered to hold a flag bridge party at her home on October 19.

Mesdames Maddison and Kiernan, and Miss Hill donated trophies for the coming season. It was decided to open the greens on October 30, weather permitting.

Personal Items.

Able Seaman Brian Haigh is spending leave with his parents at Greytown.

Miss Cook, school dental nurse for the South Wairarapa, has again commenced duties at Greytown.

Mr. Torlesse, the newly appointed manager of the Greytown branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has taken up his new duties.

TOWN HALL DOUBLE PROGRAMME

Tomorrow night there will be a double feature programme presented. “Doctors- Don’t Tell” is a splendid drama, with John Beal and Florence Rice in the chief roles. “The Man Who Wouldn’t Die” is a sterling story with Lloyd Nolan and Margaret Weaver portraying the principal characters.
