ITALIAN PRISONERS
EMPLOYMENT IN AUSTRALIAN RURAL INDUSTRY.

More than 1000 Italian prisoners captured in the Middle East have arrived in Australia to relieve the manpower shortage in rural industry. Announcing this, the Army Minister (Mr Forde) said they would help to carry out plans for the increased production of vital food. The prisoners had been selected for their sound physique and good behaviour.
