WHEY BUTTER AND COAL. TWO COMPANIES FINED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ October 4. Pleading guilty to charges of selling whey butter underweight the Kairanga Dairy Company was fined £2 in the Magistrate’s Court. The inspector of weights and measures said the butter had been weighed in a local grocer’s shop, where 22 packages revealed a total shortage of 2f per cent. Charged with having made a false statement respecting bags of coal, S. Rush and Company were fined £2. The inspector said the statements on the dockets were misleading,' adding that the case arose out of carelessness, and the sacks were apparently filled by guesswork.
