CENTRAL SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE MILK SCHEME FILM STRIP PROJECTOR IN USE The monthly meeting of the Masterton Central School Committee was held last night. There were present Messrs W. R. Nicol (in the chair), Geo. Masters, A. V. Dixon, Geo. Bilderbeck, S. I. Gibbs, T. A. Russell and P. H. Shaw. The financial statement presented by the treasurer showed a very satisfactory position. Accounts amounting to £2O 9s were passed. It was decided to write to Mr G. H. Mackley, M.P., and draw his attention to the position with regard to milk in schools in this district. A discussion took place in connection with the Wellington Education Board's request to have a large tree in front of the school cut down. It was decided to write to the board and place before it the feeling of the committee with respect to this proposal. The headmaster, Mr E. G. Coddington, read his monthly report. This showed the roll number to be well above that required to maintain the grade, being 629. The attendance was stated to be good, being 91 per cent. Several changes in staff were reported. There had been visits from Dr Mulholland, who had inspected the primers medically and had completed immunisation against diphtheria, and from Mr O’Connor, inspector of schools. A display of models and demonstration of weaving and spinning had been put on for the 21st birthday of the Junior Red Cross. The film strip machine was now in operation and was going to be a most useful educational adjunct. Certain requirement's in connection with the building were set out. At the close of the meeting the film strip projector was demonstrated by the headmaster for the information of the committee members.
