SHOT DOWN BY SWISS GUNS DURING BATTLE WITH GERMAN FIGHTERS OTHER AIRCRAFT CRASH (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day,' 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, October 1. Swiss anti-aircraft guns shot down an American Flying Fortress today, when a group of Fortresses fought a battle against German fighters over Swiss territory, states a Swiss communique. Other planes crashed as a result of the air battle. Bombs were dropped in various parts of East Switzerland, causing damage.
